Russia's new National Awards in science and technology announced

Winners of the 2022 Russian Federation National Awards for outstanding achievements in science and technology have been announced.

The latest laureates of this most prestigious national award were announced at a special briefing by Presidential Aide Andrei Fursenko. As per tradition, President Vladimir Putin has presented the National Awards on Russia Day, June 12.

The 2022 Russian Federation National Award for outstanding achievements in science and technology has been awarded to:

Mikhail Skorokhvatov and Vladimir Kopeikin for the series of fundamental and applied scientific works that have made an outstanding contribution to the development of domestic research on reactor antineutrinos and created a scientific and technical basis for their practical application in the nuclear industry.

Dmitry Pushkar, Igor Khatkov and Alexei Shabunin for scientific substantiating a new concept for minimally invasive surgical treatment of peritoneal and retroperitoneal organ cancers and introducing it into clinical practice.

Gennady Sukhikh, Levon Ashrafyan and Dmitry Trofimov for a series of fundamental and applied works on the development of personalised methods of diagnostics, prevention and therapy and the implementation of perinatology, oncology and reproductive medicine.

The National Awards for outstanding achievements in science and technology is the highest recognition of the merits of scientists to society and the state. Four such awards are awarded annually. Since 2020, this award amount is 10 million rubles each. The award is presented by the President of the Russian Federation for outstanding works, discoveries and achievements, the results of which significantly contributed to national and international research and had a significant impact on the development of scientific and technological progress.
