The organizations agreed to establish a joint funding mechanism based on equality and mutual benefit to support collaborative research projects. Priority will be given to initiatives with strong potential for technology transfer and commercialization, broad prospects for industrialization, and significant social impact. The partnership also envisions sustainable cooperation, regular information exchange on project implementation, and a strong focus on protecting intellectual property and ensuring the effective use of research results.
“The Russian Science Foundation has been successfully running a cooperation program with the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) for five years now, which resulted in 200 three-year research projects in natural sciences. The total amount of funding from the RSF over these years has exceeded 3 billion rubles. In 2023, China became the main international partner for Russian scientists”, says the Deputy General Director of the Foundation Andrei Blinov. “The partnership with the Ministry of Science and Technology of China strengthens our strategic cooperation with this country, focusing competitive funding on more targeted research projects in agreed priority areas".
By the end of this year, the two sides will be actively working to agree on priority areas and a schedule for the first joint call for proposals in 2026.
